"What can I DO about human trafficking / modern slavery?

“But what can I DO?!?!” about human trafficking is a question that sparked a journey that led to Freecember, an open source way for anyone to raise funds for their favorite anti-slavery / anti-trafficking charity.

It’s AntiSlavery Day in Europe & if you’re asking “what can I do to make a difference?” & you want to help stop modern slavery…

  • Playing hockey

  • Drawing

  • Reading

  • Running (sometimes 100 km or 100 miles!)

  • Walking

  • Drinking coffee

  • Hosting a house concert

  • Lifting 100 tons

  • Skipping lunch…

These are just some of the challenges people have taken on to raise funds for anti-modern slavery / anti-human trafficking charities during Freecember (Freedom + December), making a real difference to the non-profit and the people at risk or survivors they’re helping every day.

Adults, children, teenagers, students, entrepreneurs and business people, all kinds of different people have joined in, helping charities raise £5,000 or even $10,000 or more (individual goals range from $250 to $2,500) which has enabled them to

  • provide a year’s worth of lunches to the children of the women they work with in a red light district in South America

  • hire their first local worker, who graduated from their program in North Africa

  • hire a local worker to support child survivors in their own language in South East Asia
